DESCRIPTION
Hinoki is seen as a time of purification and relaxation from the stress and tensions of the modern world. For centuries they have considered Hinoki the preferred wood for building palaces, temples, shrines and bath environments. It is one of Japan’s most prized woods It is the wood from which Emperor’s palaces and caskets were made.

COLOUR AND PROPERTIES
Hinoki is a valuable species of tree that grows primarily in Asia and the western United States. It is a lemon-scented, light-colored wood with rich, straight grain, and is highly rot resistant It is a very beautiful, yellow-white or pale pink wood with a smooth or marbled grainboth decay and insect pests, but it is also a heavier and far stronger wood. It can be quite hard to split with impact alone and can withstand a considerable amount of bending. Depending on the quality and the grain, it can also be hard to cut with a saw.
