DESCRIPTION
Beech is a popular choice for gymnasium and other athletic floors. Flexible, durable and beautiful, it’s been used for floors and other building for centuries. The durability of birch and its enduring popularity in building makes it one of the more popular ‘reclaimed’ woods using in recycled flooring.
COLOUR RANGE
Beech offers a medium range of color variability in each of the color ranges this wood is offered in. In the drying process, Beech which is steamed yields a pink/orangey tan color, while the unsteamed Beech yields a blonde tan colored wood. Beech ranges in color from a light cream color on through to a medium tan brown and when steamed will have the pinkish/orangey overtones.
COLOUR CHANGE
Beech undergoes a medium degree of color change with a slight muting of the orangey tan colors and an ambering in color over time.
IDEAL USE
Beech’s warm red tones and fine, close grain help create an elegant wood floor with a tight even grain. As beautiful as it is durable, it’s an excellent choice for a professional looking office, or for a busy family room floor. It’s one of the woods recommended for making athletic and auditorium floors, but is as at home as the setting for a traditional or contemporary residential room decor.
